About Us

Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church
"God  Our Father,  Christ Our Redeemer, the Holy Spirit Our Comforter, Humankind Our Family"

About Us

OUR NAME The word AFRICAN means that the church was organized by people of African descent and heritage. It does not mean that the church was founded in Africa, or that it was for persons of African descent only. The church's roots are of the family of METHODIST churches. Methodism provides an orderly system of rules and regulations and places emphasis on a plain and simple gospel. EPISCOPAL refers to the form of government under which the church operates. The chief executive and administrative officers of the African Methodist Episcopal denomination are the Bishops of the church.

Our Mission

The Mission of the AME Church is to minister to the social, spiritual, and physical development of all people.

Our Vision

At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the AME Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the AME Church evolved: that is, to seek out and save the lost, and to serve the needy. It is also the duty of the Church to continue to encourage all members to become involved in all aspects of church training.

What to Expect

The Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church family seeks to be a home of all God’s people coming from all nationalities, cultures, and languages. It is our prayer that you will grow to know God and experience his closeness in our worship service, especially through inspiring relevant messages from the Word of God. If you have not already come to know and experience God in such a close way, we pray that you will come to know him at Mt. Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church. Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church is one big family of God’s people who enjoy life as a community, enjoys fellowship with God and with one another. We are a caring church that seeks to remain true to the firm foundations of the Christian church as outlined in Acts 2 where we take inspiration as the foundation of our ministry. In short, you will find us to be a God centered, caring community of individuals who are excited about having the opportunity to extend to you the same love, hope and joy we have received from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
